Here hangs a story. Back in the
summer of 2000 Simon Green was just another fellow from the seaside town of
Brighton except that he was a fellow making beautiful, chilled beat-driven music
and getting people saying "Hot dang, he’s good" (that’s how people
speak in Brighton). He released his album through the auspices of happening
local label!
Tru Thoughts and found… instant celebrity. Stacks of great reviews,
collaborations with the likes of Mr Scruff (who took a special break from
constructing model birds nests from old coathangers), all that good stuff. Huge
Sunday paper The Observer was even moved to say that "anyone in search of
the ultimate summer chill-out album should buy this debut." Hundreds of
evil, vulture-like labels crept down to Brighton and waved small cheque books
and large, blood-streaked beaks. Of these, the most evil and desperate was Ninja
Tune. So, against his will, Simon Green signed and Tru Thoughts were plunged
into depression. But miraculously, like a really good Hollywood movie, conflict
was followed by resolution and Ninja Tune admitted that it had a bad
relationship with its father and wept a little and hugged Tru Thoughts and made
up and it was all beau!

ty is kinda boring). Anyway, Simon Bonobo now a Ninja was. But before the new,
they decided that to use their giant and over-developed marketing muscle to help
the fantastic "Animal Magic" reach the parts it hadn’t previously
reached. (And if that sounds like a commercial for cheap beer, so be it).
(Actually it sounds like a giant sentence packed with mixed metaphors until it’s
completely incomprehensible, but what the hey?).Ruff guff aside, "Animal
Magic" was a blinder. This is no chancer with a sampler. Completely
produced by Our Man Green and with him also contributing a considerable amount
of live instrumentation, it’s fair to say that few people have been as adept at
crafting intricate, subtle mood music so seamlessly and so honestly. The little
monkey also manages many more styles and moo!
ds than you might expect from someone falling under the chill out tag - this is
genuinely interesting and clever as well as gorgeous. We threw away our Kinobe
and reached for recline mode.Now folks, Simon Green, otherwise known for his
prehensile tail (they told his mum not to smoke nuclear waste while she was
pregnant), has completed work on the follow-up, the truly marvellous "Dial
M For Monkey". He is back with "Pick Up", a straight-up breaks
‘n’ flute dancefloor stomper that will lay waste to the parts of
your body you use to bogle when you really, really, re-hally got it on…
In other words, it is very good indeed. The debut album rocked and shocked the
nation back in 2001; Ninja stepped in and took it to the world in 2002. Now, in
2003, the new album is ready and "Pick Up" has arrived - your taster,
your aperatif for the forthcoming platter. Enjoy it while it’s hot.

preferably move in the protecting environment of the underground.Right where
enough space and stages can be found  for growth and development. The
freedom of jazz combined with the groove of house and breakbeat describes the
character of Parov Stelar. The main theme is clearly defined, high quality music
engaged in functionality. Parovs Productions addresses the DJ at the club as
well as the listener in his easy ch!
air and - he is spinning his well selected vinyls across the world.Parov Stelar
is the head of ETAGE NOIR RECORDINGS.The greatest attribute that Parov Stelar
obviously has, is the ability to truly correspond with the music listener. As if
asking the right amount of questions of someone who listens attentively! Enough
that they don’t get bored or uninterested and ultimately dissatisfied, and not
too many of the listener as if the act of hearing music is some sort of
university challenge that produces exhaustion! It’s the success that has paved
the way for Pavor Stelar to be Austria’s greatest new export in the last two
years. And so the story continues with the second album release from Parov
Stelar. Seven and storm asks a few more questions this time, but we know that
ostentatious behaviour and b!
oastful self indulgence are far from the questions asked. Musi!

espondence is still the total objective for Parov Stelar. ’Simple’ and
’interesting’ are the two words that come to mind when listening to the new
album. Somehow you sense the two words should not be compatible but somehow
Parov Stelar makes them so. There is a wonderful minimal feel to Seven and
storm, as if Parov is stripped bare and exposed. There seems to be a sequence of
musical drawings telling a story in all the tracks. Emotion runs high, tense,
fragile, heartwarming, heartbreaking sometimes. As with ’Rough Cuts’ the
previous Parov Stelar album, Seven and storm seems to just be a perfect
accompaniment to being a westernized young adult. Guest appearances from Phoebe
Hall, Billy Kern, Odette Di Maio, Miss Anita Riegler and Leena Conquest add
beautifully to the atmospheric smokey jazzy feel of Seven and storm. Their
presence is wonderfully acted out. Another amazing belonging and security to
Parov Stelar is the use of samples. We are sure no one right now is using sampl!
es in such a sophisticated and mesmerizing way. Sampling is a art form and
Parov Stelar is a master of this principal activity.
