SECTION 25 ΕΡΓΑ & ΗΜΕΡΕΣ

Η πιο αινιγματική μπάντα ολόκληρου του καταλόγου της θρυλικής Factory Records, οι Section 25 σχηματίστηκαν στο Lancashire το 1977 από τους αδερφούς Larry και Vincent Cassidy. Απελευθέρωσαν στην ατμόσφαιρα ένα σκοτεινό κράμα Νέου Κύματος και ηλεκτρονικών, το οποίο μονάχα με το ανελέητο post-punk σφηροκόπημα των Joy Division μπορούσε να συγκριθεί.

Ντεμπούτο άλμπουμ τους ήταν το Always Now (1981). Διατηρήθηκαν ενεργοί μέχρι τα μέσα της δεκαετίας του ’80 αφήνοντας πίσω τους μία άκρως σημαντική δισκογραφία και ταυτίζοντας εαυτούς με το μυθικό Μάντσεστερ και το μεγαλείο της Hacienda...

Το comeback των Section 25 μετά από δύο δεκαετίες σιωπής δεν είναι απλώς μια επιστροφή από το παρελθόν. Πρόκειται για την επιστροφή μιας ολόκληρης εποχής κι ενός συγκροτήματος που προτίμησε να μείνει "εντός της σκιάς", μην ανταλλάσσοντας τις ουσιώδεις εμμονές του με την όποια εμπορική αποδοχή… Οι πειραματισμοί με τα υπνωτιστικά μπάσα, τις λούπες, τα feedback, τα φωνητικά, και τα δυνατά beats τους, μοιάζουν σαν να έγιναν σήμερα. Και αυτό δεν είναι καθόλου περίεργο αν λάβουμε υπόψη ότι οι Section 25 δεν ακολούθησαν ποτέ τη μόδα και τα mainstream μονοπάτια της εποχής τους αλλά προτίμησαν να αφοσιωθούν στην παραγωγή μιας σημαντικής μουσικής έκφρασης, ενός "statement", που είχε ως αποτέλεσμα τη γέννηση του κλασικού Northern punk-electro ήχου τους.

Ο τρομερός Roger Wikeley στο μπάσο και στα πλήκτρα, και ο πρώην κιθαρίστας των Tunnelvison, Ian Butterworth, πλαισιώνουν τους Cassidy Brothers, δηλαδή τον Vin που είναι στα ντραμς και τον Larry στα φωνητικά.

Με το παλιό τους υλικό να επανακυκλοφορεί ολόκληρο από την LTM Records και ένα νέο album στα σκαριά, οι Section 25 έρχονται για πρώτη φορά στην Ελλάδα για ένα μοναδικό live. Την Πέμπτη 11 Ιανουαρίου 2007 η σκηνή του Planet Music δεν θα φιλοξενήσει απλά μία ακόμα συναυλία, αλλά ένα ουσιώδες κομμάτι της σύγχρονης μουσικής ιστορίας που σε πείσμα των φτηνών καιρών μας εξακολουθεί να εξελίσσεται, αφήνοντας την υπόθεση Section 25 ακόμα ανοικτή...
