European Headline Shows

R.E.M. are back! They will be headlining shows throughout Europe in July, August and September in support of their new studio album ‘Accelerate’, set for release on April 1^st. ‘Supernatural Superserious’ is the first single to be taken from the new album.

Having recently announced a US tour for May and June, R.E.M. – Michael Stipe, Peter Buck and Mike Mills – last played in Europe 2005, when they performed to over a million people.

‘Accelerate’, the band’s first studio LP since 2004 and 14^th studio album, is one of the most hotly anticipated albums of 2008. Recorded in Dublin, Vancouver and Athens with Grammy Award-winning Producer Jacknife Lee, it follows a 5-night residency at Dublin’s Olmypia Theatre, July 2007, where they roadtested the album’s early demos.

Jacknife Lee, most noted for his production on U2’s How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, has also produced albums by Snow Patrol, The Hives, Kasabian, Aqualung and Bloc Party.

The LP ‘Accelerate’ is released April 1^st on Warner.
