Μετα την ιδιαιτερη αισθηση που αφησε και τις εγκωμιαστικες κριτικες που απεσπασε το ντεμπουτο αλμπουμ του, “Sofa O.D.”, ο Peekay Tayloh εμφανιζεται στην Αθηνα, για να παρουσιασει ανεκδοτο, αλλα και προερχομενο απο το αλμπουμ, υλικο.

Η μουσικη του Peekay Tayloh , επιρρεασμενη απο τους χωρους του breakbeat, της electronica, του idm και της jazz, διεπεται απο μια freeform αντιληψη, ενω οι εντονα αφηγηματικες/καλειδοσκοπικες συνθεσεις του, θα περαπεμψουν αρκετους στους Amon Tobin, Neotropic, Squarepusher, Future Sound of London, Beefcake. Με εντονη και κινηματογραφικη γραφη, περναει απο λυρικες φρασεις και μελωδιες σε βιομηχανικους ηχους και απο αερινες ατμοσφαιρες σε γκροτεσκο ξεσπασματα. Νευρωδη αστικα τοπια συνδιαζονται με μια αισθηση εσωτερικοτητας, αλλα και ενα μεσογειακο αγγιγμα

“The more and more one listens to this album the greater the appreciation of the complexity of whats happening. The beats are intricately mixed with the musical samples are seamlessly blended in and out of each other. The programming of the beats is stunning and one can’t avoid the power and drive emanating from each track. Not only is Tayloh a master of beat programming but he also has an innate sense for structure and just when you feel there should a change in direction, it happens and something new is thrown into the offering.”

Peekay Tayloh creates a ghostly cityscape, ancient brick buildings coated by fog, which retains some of the sickly mercury vapor glow from streetlamps running along the canals.

Sofa O.D. is a soundtrack to European cities as if Amon Tobin and Riz Maslen were tapped to provide music for this Continental travelogue.

There is movement in the sky and the water, reflections from the cities on the continent behind you, but for a few minutes you are along with your thoughts. Sofa O.D. makes me miss Europe. As long as I’m not physically there, though, I’ll have this record to transport my brain across the ocean.

The programming on the release is actually some of the best I ‘ve heard in quite awhile (or at least since “Out from out where”). With so many artists doing hyper-processed rhythm programming, it takes something to stand out these days, and fortunately Tayloh manages to do that a fair amount.

Sofa O.D. is the first release of the greek Peekay Tayloh, deeply influenced by electronica, breakbeat and jazz. These ingredients are surprisingly not far from the combination of a good Amon Tobin release. Beyond these ingredients, the guys also “holds the road” musically speaking. The complexity of the arrangement and the cinematographic atmosphere of each track are really the two decisive arguments of this record. If you like intelligent rhythmic instrumental music, this one is for you.

Sí, parece del sello Ninja Tune, pero en realidad es del menos conocido Poeta Negra, con sede en Tesalónica (Grecia). En el "Sofa O.D." del talentoso Peekay Tayloh hay todo lo que se espera de un disco de la fábrica de Coldcut (sobre todo, de uno de Amon Tobin): densísimos grooves entre breakbeat, hip hop y jazz, mucha sampladelia y aliento cinematográfico.
