Οι L.A Guns δημιουργήθηκαν το 1986 με τους Tracii Guns(κιθάρα), Steve Riley (drums), Phil Lewison (φωνητικά), Kelly Nickels (bass) και Mick Cripps (keyboards & κιθάρα). Στην Polygram Records το 1987 έβγαλαν το 1^ο τους album, L.A. Guns. Ο δίσκος πούλησε περισσότερα από 750,000 αντίτυπα και καθιέρωσε αμέσως το group, δίνοντας του και το 1^ο gold album award. Συνεχείς προβολές στο MTV, μέσα στο top-ten του καναλιού, ώστε και το video να παίρνει το gold award.

Αφού περιόδευαν με τους Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Def Leppard, Cheap Trick έγινα γρήγορα οι headliners με Tours σε Ευρώπη και Ιαπωνία. Αυτό καταξίωσε περισσότερο το συγκρότημα, σαν μια τρομερή live μπάντα.

Το 2^ο τους album Cocked and Loaded βγήκε το 1989. Εκεί υπάρχει και το hit "Rip and Tear" ως το 1^ο single και video. Ακολούθησαν τα "Never Enough" και "Ballad of Jayne," με περισσότερα από 1.000.000 πωλήσεις και έδωσαν το platinum record award.

Hollywood Vampires, ήταν το 3^ο album των L.A Guns’ το φθινόπωρο του 1990. Το "Kiss My Love Goodbye" ήταν το 1^ο single και video. Πάλι πωλήσεις, επιτυχία, περιοδείες. Το 1994 ηχογραφούν τον 4^ο τους δίσκο Vicious Circle, που βγήκε το 1995 και πήρε εξαιρετικές κριτικές. Το 1999 οι L.A Guns έκαναν ένα greatest hits package, με τίτλο Black Beauties, με μερικά νέα κομμάτια. Τελευταίο τους album. Tο 2002 έβγαλαν εκεί τον τελευταίο τους δισκο με τίτλο Waking the Dead.

€L.A Guns was formed in 1986 with Tracii Guns on lead guitar, Steve Riley on drums,Phil Lewison lead vocals, Kelly Nickels on bass, and Mick Cripps on keyboards and guitar. The band signed with Polygram Records in 1987 and recorded their first album, L.A. Guns, that summer.

The album went on to sell 750,000 copies and earned the band their first gold album award. The videos from the album were constantly on the top ten on MTV, with the compilation video also earning a gold award. The tours to promote the album included runs with Iron Maiden, AC-DC, Def Leppard, Cheap Trick and long runs as headliners themselves. Tours in Europe and Japan followed. This is also the time when L.A Guns got a reputation as being hard workers from being on the road so much.

L.A Guns went into the studio to record their second album Cocked and Loaded in the spring of 1989. It was a hit right away with the release of "Rip and Tear" as the first single and video. This was followed by "Never Enough" and "Ballad of Jayne," pushing album sales over a million, earning the band a platinum record award. The video compilation from this album also went gold. A successful world tour followed.

Hollywood Vampires, L.A Guns’ third album, was recorded in the fall of 1990. This album also started quick with the release of "Kiss My Love Goodbye" as the first single and video. Another successful world tour followed with the album selling 700,000 copies for the band’s second gold record. L.A Guns toured through 1992 for Hollywood Vampires, and came off the road for a well deserved rest. 1993 was a year to explore projects with other musicians while still being committed to L.A Guns. The band went back into the studio in 1994 to work on the band’s fourth album Vicious Circle. It was released in in early 1995 with a U.S. tour following. This album received some of the best reviews the band had ever received. The tour was also a major success.

In 1999 L.A Guns went into the studio to record a greatest hits package, titled Black Beauties, that also included five new songs written for the album. A CD of all new material was released in 2002 titled Waking the Dead.
